Actors to strike again?
Proposals for further industrial action were discussed but not finalised at the Canterbury branch of Actors’ Equity annual meeting yesterday. The secretary of the branch, Mr John Stewart, said that the proposals would be discussed at meetings over the next fortnight and recommendations for further action forwarded to the national office.
The Court Theatre’s performance on Saturday evening was cancelled because of a strike by actors and production staff.
The staff decided to strike after the Actors’ Equity award talks broke down, for the second time, in Wellington on Thursday.
