Indoor bowls results

Bill Trembath and Andrew Curtain (St Pauls) on Saturday won the only professional indoor bowls tournament to be played in Canterbury this season.

They took the first place prize money of $5OO by beating Robert Duncan and his wife, Marcia (Golden Bay Motueka), 10-3, in the final of the Lion Brown Boon Hay invitation pairs.

Trembath and his partner played precise draw bowls and handled the Australian-style four-bowl pirs game well. They scored consistently from tight heads in a somewhat unusual final. The fifth head was halted for 20 minutes when a fire alarm caused the premises to be vacated.

The national fours title holder, Duncan, resumed the sixth end by scoring a three but Trembath held control to run out a clear winner. Results.—
