Fewer now on dole
Wellington reporter The numbers on the unemployment benefit have dropped 5.7 per cent this year, and 25 per cent in the last 12 months. The latest figures from
the Social Welfare Department show that 36,915 people were on the dole at March 1, compared with 39,161 at February 15. Of these, 23,283 were male, 13,632 female, and 10,845 were aged under 20.
