Basketball merger
The New Brighton Women’s Basketball Club has amalgamated with Continental Caterers-Rangiora. New Brighton has five teams in the women’s grades. Rangiora will now have 11 teams in Christchurch men’s and women’s sections this season. A spokesman, Mr John London, said yesterday that the club would be entering an under-20 men’s team for the first time. A former Canterbury re-
presentative, Mr London will coach the Rangiora senior men’s team along with last year's coach, Alan Robson. Mr Robson will be absent for part of the season as he has to have an operation on an ankle. - The Rangiora men’s side will be similar to last season, but an interesting newcomer is Michael Drayton, a 1.95 m forward, who played for Southland last year.
