New league chairman
lan Jenkins has been elected chairman of the Canterbury Rugby League board of control for the 1985 season. Mr Jenkins succeeds Merv James, who, although still a member of the board, did not seek re-election after a three-year term. The new deputy chairman is
Paul Nixon. The Canterbury representative team, which is to make a three-match northern tour in April and participate in the southern zone first division championship against Wellington and West Coast, will be under the managership of Jim Anderson.
