Building-materials hoist

A fully automated cable hoist which lifts roof tiles and other building materials from ground level to the roof is manufactured by Guthrie Manufacturing (Aust.) Pty. Ltd. The "Hytile" cable hoist is light and easy to handle, and has been designed to make the roof tilers job quick and simple. The standard unit comprises two 3.65 metre (12 feet) sections and a 1.22 metre (4 feet) base unit housing a 5 h.p.. electric motor which drives the trollev.

Optional sections can be added to the standard unit for a maximum height of 15.9 metres (52 feet), allowing the hoist to reach the roof of a multi-storey building. The trolley travels at 58 metres (190 feet) a minute, and is capable of delivering up to 15 tiles or 68 kilos (154 lbs) in weight on each jour-

ney. As well as roof tiles, the trolley can lift cement blocks, bricks and wooden shakes. A device at the top of the unit lifts the tiles clear of the trolley which automatically returns to ground level for reloading. This rapid delivery and return action compensates for the heavier

load capacity of some other types of manually operated hoists. Accessories exclusive to the Hytile cable hoist include an attachment which adjusts the top four feet of the unit to an angle of 45 degrees. This action simplifies the delivery and removal of tiles on steep roof gradients.
