SPIR and S.P.I.R.

Sir, — Today (February 4), “The Press” carried a Press Association report concerning our support for the 1985 All Black tour of South Africa. In this report our organisa-

tion was incorrectly named as the Society for the Promotion of Individual Responsibility. We have no connection whatsoever with the group of this name. They are a separate organisation concerned with censorship and recently ran advertising with regard to “Penthouse” magazine. We are involved only in the concept of freedom in sport. In order to stop any confusion we dropped our original name the Society for the Protection of Individual Rights in late 1981 and adopted the name SPIR-New Zealand Organisation for Sporting Freedom. It would be appreciated by us, and I am sure the other organisation, if we could each be reported under our correct name. — Yours, etc.,

ELIZABETH SUTHERLAND, National organiser,

SPIR-NZ Organisation for Sporting Freedom. February 4, 1985.
