Black and coloured sheep sale

More than 100 sheep will be offered at the annual South Island Black and Coloured Sheep sale, to be held in Timaru tomorrow.

Twenty-three breeders have offered sheep for sale in five sections — ewe lambs, two-tooth ewes, mixed-age ewes, two-tooth rams and mixed-age rams. An organiser for the sale, Mrs Leslie Jensen, of Geraldine, said that vendors are from all over Canterbury, including Banks Peninsula, and from Otago.

It was the first time in the South Island that genetically brown sheep will be offered and also the first time for sheep registered in the New Zealand Black and Coloured Purebred Registry.

The sheep will be on display at the Timaru Showgrounds from 10 a.m.and the sale starts at 1.30 p.m.
