Motorway houses
Sir, — Could somebody from the Department of Lands and Survey or the Ministry of Works and Development tell me what they plan to do with their surplus houses on motorway routes? Will tenants get an option to buy or do we just get a month’s notice when their fate is decided? I have been a tenant of one of these houses for three and a half years and would like to know what is happening, as, I suppose, would many others. Are tenants going to receive any consideration or just one month’s notice? — Yours, etc.,
W. SHAW. December 14, 1984.
[The District Commissioner of Works replies: “The dwelling your correspondent occupies has been declared surplus for disposal and is at present being administered by the Lands and Survey Department. There has been no decision by the Government in respect of preferential allocation to tenants and, as the future sale of this property will be handled by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, your correspondent should discuss the matter of her continued occupation with him.”]
