Caravan L.P.G. parts recalled

PA Hamilton Faulty caravan L.P.G. regulators, which could leak and ignite, have been recalled by New Zealand Industrial Gases, Ltd. The company has said that the inlet fittings on some Marshall Brass L.P.G. regulators sold from October to December could have indentations on the surface. This might result in an imperfect seal to liquefied petroleum gas cylinders and a possibility of a leakage. “The resulting mixture could ignite,” a company spokesman, Mr Peter O’Connor, said. “We are making this known in the interests of public safety.”

However the N.Z.I.G. branch in Hamilton refused to comment about how dangerous the fault was, and would not allow one of the regulators being recalled to be photograhed by the “Waikato Times.” The regulators are used on L.P.G. cylinders for caravans and are identified by the manufacturer’s name Marshall Brass Company Model 230 Marshall Michigan. On the underside they are coded (84) (34), or (84) (31) in two flat circular areas. N.Z.I.G. has asked that people who have bought one recently, return it to where it was bought to arrange for a replacement.
