Air Pacific gives staff notice
NZPA-AAP Suva Air Pacific has given staff at its Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne offices onemonth notices of termination. All their work in Australia will now be handled by Qantas, the Australian airline that has taken over the local airline. Qantas last week signed an agreement with Air Pacific to manage the local airline for three, years.
The “Fiji Times” newspaper reported that Air Pacific employees in Canada and America will also be laid off. A staff member at the Sydney office told the “Fiji Times” they were trying to arrange a deal so that they could be taken on by QanMost of the staff in the three Australian offices were Australians, and a few were Fijians.
