NZPA-AFP Northampton Alex Higgins and Jimmy White clinched the world doubles snooker championship here yesterday with a crushing 10-2 victory against Cliff Thorburn and Willie Thorne. The number four seeds were in irresistible form and some sparkling potting allied to top-class safetyplay speeded them to the
SNZ6O,OOO first prize, and left Thorburn and Thorne sitting in their corner demoralised. White in particular was in high-class form. He managed five major breaks, including a match-best 90 in the sixth frame and, with Higgins rolling in three halfcentury breaks to support him, they were never in danger of defeat
