Canterbury wins trap shooting
PA Invercargill Mataura’s Russell McGowan was the overall champion at the South Island clay target tournament at the Southland Gun Club at the week-end. He won the title with an excellent score of 185-195. The blue ribbon event in trap shooting, the single rise, was won by Cameron Moore of Geraldine, from Gavin Searle (Christchurch). The event was contested
by 201 shooters, of whom nine shot possibles. The Air New Zealand match was won by Peter Lassen (Waihora), who receives a trip to Australia to compete in the Australian national championships in Perth as his prize. Canterbury won the interprovincial cup from five competing provinces, with a score of 1021, and the North Island team beat the South Island in the inter-island competition.
