Woodford Glen Stock feature
The first of the programmes stock car feature nights will be held at Woodford Glen Speedway tomorrow evening with the staging of the Bardahi 51000 Grand National. At least 20 cars are expected to start in the event which will be raced over three heats. From outside Canterbury' the sternest challenges are expected to come from the Nelson drivers, Tony and Cliff Frost, Sam Woodford, and Chris Ching, and Invercargill’s Lindsay Sapwell. The best of the Christchurch drivers should include Peter Ross and Brian Johnson who have showed good early season form. The
experienced Gerald Griffiths, Bruce Annan, and Wayne Wilding should also be prominent ; Griffiths started the season with three wins, but mechanical problems have sidelined him since. Should he run with the car in reliable trim it will take a sterling performance from another competitor to head him off. Annan has only appeared with his old car, but with his new car of last season having had a complete overhaul he will be looking for a good result. Wilding in only one appearance, did enough to show that he has not lost any form.
