Dour New Zealand stayer which ran seventh to Kiwi in this race last year and was placed in the Auckland Cup at Ellerslie last January. Thoroughly fit after five Melbourne starts this campaign. G. Willetts Colours: Cerise, yellow spots and sleeves, green armbands and cap. 2 9215 AFFINITY 14 55.5 Br g, 5 yrs, Zamazaan — Geraniums. Trainer: J. J. Moloney. Has always shown staying potential and lived up to it with outstanding win in Caulfield Cup (2400 m on October 20 from Bounty Hawk. At only start over this distance was close second to Moss Kingdom in Morphetville Cup in May. P. Last season’s best three-year-old stayer winning 2500 m Victoria Derby and Ascot 2400 m Australian Derby. Has come back as a four-year-old in similar form. Melbourne wins this time up were in Underwood Stakes on September 27 and in MacKinnon Stakes last Saturday. Has had perfect preparation. H. All five starts this time in have been in Melbourne. Won Caulfield Stakes on October 13 and was not disgraced when fourth In Caulfield Cup. Second to Bounty Hawk in weight-for-age MacKinnon Stakes last Saturday. L. Showed ability at 3200 m when second to Chiamare in this year’s Brisbane Cup. P. Had raced poorly in two Victorian runs before fourth to Chagemar in Dalgety on Saturday. In one run over 3200 m was fourth to Amarant in last year’s Brisbane Cup.
