Sir,—lnstead of his wildly fanciful and highly impractical idea of introducing cricket into China and the Soviet Union as a recipe for a more peaceful world (“Reporter’s Diary,” November 1) Bob Hawke would contribute infinitely more to a more peaceful world were he to close down the United States bases at North-west Cape, Pine Gap and Nurrungar. — Yours, etc.,
