Unionism

Sir—ln answer to J. Tabak (October 29), concerning the old union “freeloading” claim, it is as absurd to suggest that without unions the standard of living would not have advanced as it is to credit those same unions with causing advances. Production is the cause of rising living standards, and those willing to contribute to increasing production will always reap the benefits, regardless of union attempts to control and manipulate the fruits of production. Let us see this hoary old “freeloading” assertion finally laid to rest. — Yours, etc., F. J. O’LEARY, Saltwater Creek. October 31, 1984.
