Van set on fire

Mrs Carol Fox and Mr Michael Fox inspect a van which frustrated burglars set on fire at the premises of Carlin Foods, Ltd, in Vickerys Road, Sockburn, early yesterday. The burglars found the vehicle, valued about $B5OO, after entering the premises about 3 a.m. They drove it into a metal door and set fire to it. The owner of the company, Mr Lindsay Fox, said that the van and the door were badly damaged.

It was a blow for his company which was just setting up its premises and was almost ready to make

potato chips. Detective Senior-Sergeant

Arthur Rodgers said that two other businesses in Vickerys Road, Gamma Natural Foods and Precision Precasting, were also broken into. However, the burglars took little from the three premises.

It was felt that the burglars must have burned the van out of frustration, he said.

Inquiries continued last evening.
