Governor’s Bay being reserved
PA Auckland The highly regarded Matamata colt, Governor’s Bay, will not;start in the 520,000 Clemdon Town Centre Handicap at Franklin tomorrow.
He is being reserved instead for the $70,000 New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas at Riccarton next
Wednesday. The powerful three-year-old grey, nicknamed Trac-
tor, looked an excellent Two Thousand Guineas prospect at his last start when he finished fourth behind Avon Song, Princess Regal and Red Henry in the $12,000 Plaza Purse (1400 m at Te Rapa on Labour Day. He suffered a severe early check in that race and came from third last in a strung-out field to finish only a length and a half from, the winner. >•
