R. Brosnan’s suspension lifted
Richard Brosnan will be able to drive at the New Zealand Cup meeting, which starts at Addington Raceway on Tuesday.
He was successful in having a three-meeting term of suspension imposed on October 19 lifted by a subcommittee appointed by the Trotting Conference to hear his request for a review of penalty. The revjew took place in Christchurch last evening. It was heard by Messrs A. R. Corcoran, B. B. Woods and R. W. Dayne. The sub-committee heard
submissions from Mr B. J. Scott, for Brosnan, and Mr B. McClelland, for the conference, and viewed a film of the alleged interfer-
ence. The tribunal found that the quality of the interference did not warrant a period of suspension, and it cancelled the penalty imposed on Brosnan. Brosnan’s deposit paid with the application for the review was ordered to be forfeited and he was directed to contribute $250 towards the cost of the hearing.
