$75,000 loan for Southland

Special correspondent Invercargill The Southland Racing Club has been granted a $75,000 interim loan under favourable terms by the New Zealand Racing Authority. Part of the loan may be made a grant after 18 months. The money has been lent to enable the club to complete extensive work at the Invercargill complex, involving the widening of the course proper in the home straight, re-modelling of the birdcage area and the forming of an all-weather sand training track on a realigned course proper. Work on an updated birdcage has almost been comlileted. A walkway has been aid and the infield area has been returfed by club, staff.
