Cycling on the footpath

Sir,—l am appalled at the suggestion that young cyclists should use footpaths. Young people mostly are intolerant of the elderly. They are always in a hurry and do not look where they are going. One only has to watch them at shopping centres when they are in a hurry. Bikes are thrown down on footpaths. Why not have cycling areas on the roadway. Accidents are often caused by cyclists themselves because of insufficient tuition, riding together, riding three abreast and riding with insufficient lights. — Yours, etc., T. WOOLWICH.
