Help for dolphins
PA . Wellington A whale advocate, Dr Paul Spong, says he believes a solution to problems concerning Napier’s Marineland dolphinarium is within reach. After discussions in Wellington last week with the Under-Secretary for the Environment, Mr Woollaston, and the Minister of Fisheries, Mr Moyle, Dr Spong said he believed that both men understood that concrete tank environments were not suitable for acoustic animals such as dolphins. But, he said, both thought that any changes should give consideration to the survival of Marineland and of Napier’s tourist industry. Dr Spong denied he was trying to close Marineland.
