A North Beach house was severely damaged by fire last evening after catching alight while its owners were on holiday. About three-quarters of the weatherboard dwelling, at 50 Marine Parade, was damaged or destroyed by the fire. The cause of the blaze was not known. Three fire appliances attended after being called at 10.30 p.m. Firemen took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, and the police were called in to secure the building.
