Police ‘kicked’ at cinema
Two police constables were kicked, punched and showered with bottles in a fracas at the Academy Cinema in Hereford Street early yesterday morning, the police said yesterday. They were called to the theatre about 12.45 a.m; to . deal with noisy patrons at the midnight screening of “Liquid Sky.” One young man allegedly resisted the constables’ attempts to remove him, and a fight ensued, and others joined in. The policemen managed to remove two men, but were attacked by several other people outside the theatre before reinforcements arrived, said the police. Four people were arrested. The two constables were treated in hospital for minor injuries.
