Personnel award
Mr Garry Hanley, personnel manager of New Zealand Steel, Ltd, is the first recipient of the Institute of Personnel Management’s Ron Ellis Memorial Award. The award is made to a member of the institute who has made an outstanding contribution to personnel management in New Zealaiid. Mr Hanley’s award is in recognition of his contribution to the Huakina project, supported by New Zealand Steel. This recognises the interests of local Maoris in the expansion of the Glenbrook steel-mill site, and provides a means for consultation between the company and the neighbouring people.
