Lincoln to hold fruit field days
Fruit crops will be the subject of three field days to be held at Lincoln College during November and December. Prospects for fruitgrowing, climate, soils and husbandry, and the economic potential of each crop will be covered. The first field day will cover establishing an orchard, with emphasis on stone-fruit such as peaches and nectarines, followed by pip fruit. Wine, juice, and dessert grapes will be discussed at the third field day. Growing skills and marketing techniques will be discussed at each of the three field days, which will be taken by staff from the horticulture and farm management departments at«the college.
