Waitikiri retains Boyle Cup
Waitikiri retained the Boyle Cup for women’s golf on Friday, resisting a challenge from the Windsor Club. Waitikiri won three of the five matches and haived the other two. The Boyle Cup has been sought by Canterbury clubs for 70 years on match play on a handicap basis. Waitikiri won it recently from Waimairi Beach, its first such success. In Friday’s match, Waitikiri’s -best performer was the former Canterbury Russell Grace player, Maureen Doherty, who was only two over the card when she won her match on the tenth green.
