Oxford to Christchurch bus licence granted
Kinlock Cartage, Ltd, has been granted a bus licence to carry passengers between Oxford and Christchurch. The new service will travel from Oxford, through Rangiora, Ohoka Road, State highway No. 1, Belfast, Johns Road, Memorial Avenue, Clyde Road, Riccarton Road to Latimer
Square. It will return via the same route.
On the inward route the service may deviate to Christchurch Airport as required. The service may also be extended to Coopers Creek and Ashley Gorge as
required, ruled Mr D. L. Hogan, the No. 9 Transport District Licensing Authority. The bus will leave Oxford Monday to Friday at 6.40 a.m., and depart Latimer Square at 4.45 p.m. Passengers may be picked up and set down en route, and goods may be carried.
In reality, this is a transfer of a licence now
being run by Holiday Tours and Travel, Ltd. Mr Hogan said there is no provision in the new legislation for the transfer of a licence other than for a taxicab.
