Axeman amiss
PA Whangarei The top northern galloper, Axeman, looks out of contention for the rich Australian spring racing season. Axeman was scratched from the Auckland Motors Handicap at Ellerslie on Saturday. The horse pulled up sore after galloping, at Ruakaka late last week, according to his ownertrainer, Kevin Griffin. Axeman’s chances of crossing the Tasman appeared slim following another setback to the brilliant horse’s career. Future plans for Axeman are uncertain. “We will have to see how he comes along in the next few weeks,” said Mr Griffin.
