Proposal rejected
PA Wellington The Wellington Trotting Club has rejected a proposal that it shift its track from Hutt Park to the Wellington Racing Club’s course at Trentham. The idea was put to the two clubs by the Lower Hutt City Council to enable the development of a sports complex at Hutt Park. Lower Hutt’s director of parks and recreation, Mr
Errol Butcher, held talks with the two club secretaries. However, the trotting club secretary, Mr Steve Richardson, said yesterday the committee had rejected the proposal. “The matter was fully considered but it was felt a move to Trentham would not be in the best interests of the trotting industry,” said Mr Richardson.
