Greyhounds Brisbane dog to race in Chch

It now seems certain that there will be Australian representation in next month’s $5OOO Classique Cottages New Zealand Greyhound championships at Queen Elizabeth II Park. Solitary Khan (Solitary Bomber—Eleanor Lane), the winner of six races from the Brisbane kennels of Nigel Rugg, was yesterday confirmed as a definite starter in the series by his connections, according to the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s secretary, Mr Gordon Kingston. Solitary Khan has been performing creditably in his
recent racing in Queensland, his efforts this year including a third placing in a qualifying heat for the Queensland Derby before finishing sixth in distinguished company in the grand final of the classic at the Gabba ground. With top performers such as Spanish Bijou, Supreme Domino and Linwood Lady sidelined through injury, Christchurch club officials will no doubt be greatly relieved to have attracted such a talented chaser for the championships, which comprise four $5OO semifinals on Monday, November 5 and a $3OOO final on Thursday, November 8.
