Gaimoss works in good style

Special correspondent Awapuni Gaimoss has come through recent racing well and she worked in good style at Awapuni yesterday morning. Gaimoss is in the Higgle Handicap at Wanganui. Gaimoss ran a fair race at Hawke’s Bay though the ground could have been a little too firm for her. Maurice Campbell will ride her at Wanganui. Manchu was given a light task on the plough and it seems likely that he will miss the Tim Rogers Stakes. Manchu could be reserved for races late next month, possibly at Feilding. Working on the course proper, which was in good order, Gaimoss ran 1200 m in lmin 21s, the last 600 in 38.45. She is well seasoned and could be hard to beat at Wanganui. Go Mama sprinted 600 m in 40s and was never at top. She will probably race next at Feilding. Commissionaire took 39s for 600 m and has come through his trial run at Foxton pretty well.

Adelma ran home 800 m in 53.55, the last 600 in 40s. Adelma is engaged at Wanganui tomorrow. Soroyal did good work over 600 m in 37.65. She ran a bold race behind Kim Heir on the first day and has prospects in the Open Day Maiden No. 2. Remy Martin ran the last 600 of an easy 1400 m in 38s and Prince Tui worked well from the 800 in 51.45, the last 600 in 37.45. He ran a fair race at Hastings and has a chance tomorrow. Aptitude took 53s for 800 m, the last 600 in 39s and she is in top order for spring racing though she will not be seen in action for a while. Mr Trick worked from the 1000 m in lmin 6s, the final 600 in 37.45. He has improved since Foxton, where he pulled very hard. He is in the Tim Rogers Stakes. Brian Hibberd has the mount. Tredici and Cuchulainn ran 1000 m in lmin 7.45, the final 600 in 395, while Indeed and Pirganella ran 1200 m in lmin 22.45. Rebloom beat Slim Pickens

easily at the end of 1600 m in lmin 51s, the last 600 in 425. The Wanganui candidate, Valiant Ashton, was paired with Sovereign Parade and they ran 1400 m in lmin 365, the last 600 in 40.65. Further rain would help Valiant Ashton. Head Shepherd looked good running 1000 m in lmin 7s, the final 600 in 40s. He is fit for the jumpers’ flat at Wanganui and should go close to winning. Nampa, which might resume on Perry Dines day at Taranaki, ran 600 in 40s and Toni Remus took 40s for a similar task. Fantastic recorded 52s for his 800, the final 600 in 38s and he will resume at Feilding next week. Stage Hit took lmin 9s for 1000 m, the final 600 in 41s. Under the Clock required lmin 9s for an easy 1000 m, the final 600 in 41.45. Red Sucaryl, Zeb and Golden Sabre schooled safely over six hurdles. Zeb has been racing well on the flat and should be prominent in his engagement at Wanganui tomorrow.
