Stan Hill recalled

Stan Hill, who was rejected for the New Zealand men’s basketball team to tour South-East Asia this month, has been included in a group of nine players nominated, along with the present New Zealand team, to tour the West Coast of the United States in December. Hill had a disagreement with the chief New Zealand

coach, Mr Peter Schmidt, of Auckland, before the national trials two months ago, and decided to by-pass the present tour. However, in the interim it appears that Mr Schmidt and Hill have come to an agreement over attendance at trials. Hill, who has played for New Zealand for 10 years, is a must for the

tour, along with Canterbury’s outstanding guard, John Rademakers, who has also made himself available.

Surprisingly, Mr Schmidt has included four Auckland players in his additional squad. They are Tony Complain, Paul Ogilvy, Craig Cruickshank and Peter Logan. The other players included are Rewi Thompson, of Wellington, Nick Costley, of Nelson, and Eric Howard, of Hamilton. Thompson is at present in the United States on a scholarship; Logan has a suspect knee; Costley is undecided about touring again; which makes the final selection for the United States something of a dilemma.
