Susannah York in Hall play

PA Wellington Susannah York will play the lead role in an English production of Roger Hall’s latest play, “Multiple Choice.”

“Multiple Choice” will open in Guildford on October 9. The director of the New Zealand playwrights’ agency, Playmarket, Ms Nonnita Rees, said that all being well, the production would transfer to London. Hall is well known in New Zealand for a string of successful plays that have included “Glide Time,” “Middle Age Spread,”

“Prisoners of Mother England,” and “Hot Water.” “Multiple Choice” has been performed at Dunedin’s Fortune Theatre and Auckland’s Mercury Theatre. Also in October, Greg McGee’s play, “Foreskin’s Lament,” will open a New Zealand season at the Stables Theatre in Sydney. It will be followed by plays by Roger Hall and Robert Lord.

“Foreskin’s Lament” will be directed by Aarne Neeme, the Tasman Theatre Fellow who visited New Zealand last year.
