Trio formed
Three of New Zealand’s leading musicians have come to the rescue of the Music Federation of New Zealand. The three chamber musicians will give concerts in nine cities throughout New Zealand during October, replacing a group which has had to withdraw because of the illness of one of its members. They are the pianist, Diedre Irons, {he cellist, Wilfred Simenauer, and the clarinetist, Frank Gurr.
They are well-known to New Zealand audiences. Diedre Irons toured in April this year for the federation with the visitng violinist, Miha Pogacnik. Wilfred Simenauer performed as a soloist with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in June. Frank Gurr has performed in chamber music groups on many occasions. The group will perform in three South Island centres during its tour — Nelson, Invercargill and Dunedin. The Nelson concert will be on October 13.
