Poster design
Young New Zealand artists and designers will have a chance to display their skills in a major design competition later this year. The competition is for three posters to publicise the United Nations International Youth Year in 1985. The posters must be designed by artists under the age of 25. The competition has been organised by the National Youth Council and the New Zealand Students’ Arts Council. More than $3OOO in prizes have been sponsored
by graphic design retailers throughout New Zealand. Several of New Zealand’s top designers have agreed to participate in selecting the winning designs. The judges include Robyn Kahukiwa, artist and illustrator, Margaret Nieuwland, a top young Wellington designer and illustrator, and Reg Nicholls, head of the Wellington Polytechnic Design School’s visual Communications course.
The contest organisers want to see an annual art and design award established for young artists.
