Robert Jongenburger (North Canterbury) won three titles at the annual country day table tennis tournament in Christchurch. Players from three sub-asso-ciations, North Canterbury (NC), Ellesmere (E), Springs (S), and Malvern (M) took part. Results were.— Section winners — Men: R. Jongenburger (NC), A. Capill (NC), R. Louden (NC), T. Green (NC), K. Watson (M). R. Louden beat K. Watson 23-21, 21-15; R. Jongenburger beat T. Green 21-13, 21-16; R. Louden beat A. Capill 21-15, 10-21, 21-18. Final: R. Jongenburger beat R. Louden 21-13, 21-9. Women: J. Louden (NC), V. Smith (S), G. Mitchell (E). G. Mitchell beat J. Louden 11-21, 21-13, 22-20. Final: V. Smith beat G. Mitchell 13-21, 21-18, 21-18.
Men’s doubles: T. Green and R. Jongenburger beat R. Louden and A. Capill 21-13, 2115. Women’s doubles: G. Mitchell and J. McKay beat W Grant and J. Powell 21-13, 2117. Senior open mixed doubles: R. and M. Jongenburger beat R. and J. Louden. Under 18 — boys: B. Steere (NC), D. Penman (NC), D. Hills (NC). D. Penman beat D. Hills 21-23, 21-16, 21-16. Final: B. Steere beat D. Penman, 21-9, 21-21. Under 18 girls: M. Smith (S), G. Eagle (NC). Final: G. Eagle beat M. Smith 21-13, 21-19. Boys’ doubles: B. Smith and B. Steere beat D. Hills and K.
