Tennis star honoured
NZPA-AP New York Martina Navratilova has been named the 1984 player of the year by the Women’s Tennis Association for the third consecutive year and the fifth time in the last seven years.
Navratilova, who has won the last five grand slam titles, has also been selected with Pam Shriver as doubles team of the year. It is the fourth consecutive year the two have captured that award.
