Bowlers seek new system
PA Auckland A round-robin system for the world bowls championships in Henderson in 1988 would be impractical, organisers said yesterday. Mr Jeff Davis, the chairman of World Bowls N.Z. Ltd, set up by the New Zealand Bowling Association to organise and run the championships, said: “We could have 24 at Henderson. If everybody had to play everybody else it would take oyer a month to decide all four titles. In Aberdeen there was criticism of the system used to determine medal winners. The 22 countries were divided into two sections of 11 and played 10 games.
