Band’s director retires
Mr Noel Taylor has retired as musical director of the Christchurch police band because of a heavy workload and business commitments. However, Mr Taylor, who has been the director for 3% years, will retain his association with the band in a playing and advisory capacity. In the meantime, the bandmaster, Mr Ray Blampied, will take over the training and conducting of the band. The post of musical director has been held in abeyance until a suitable person has been found. The band at its annual meeting recorded its thanks for the work and time that Mr Taylor had put in with the band. The band played at 40 public engagements during the year.
