Raised fares official

travel editor Increases in air fares which were rescinded by the Minister of Transport, Mr Prebble, last week, were reapplied from midnight last night. From today, all first-class and economy-class fares to Europe and the United Kingdom will be 7 per cent dearer. The increases are now legal — the revised tariffs were gazetted by the Government yesterday. The fares were supposed to have risen a week ago, but the increases were withdrawn, and refunds given, after “The Press” queried the legality of the move with the Minister.
