Win for Rex Wilson
NZPA-AAP Melbourne The New Zealander, Rex Wilson, of Auckland, who finished ahead of Robert de Castella in the world cross-coun-try championship last March, won the first Royal Life halfmarathon in Melbourne yesterday. Wilson’s time of 63 minutes
22 seconds was a new Australian record but outside the world record of 61min 31s. The second placegetter ! in the field of 1400 runners was the former Olympian, Steve Austin, of Victoria, in 63min 545, with third place going; to another Melbourne man, Jeff Coole.
