Popular Alm back in work
NZPA-AAP Melbourne The champion pacer, Popular Alm, has been put back Into work after recovering from a serious leg injury which threatened to end his career. The winner of 47 races and sAust6993B3 in prize money is on the comeback trail and if the return is complete, his Kilmore trainer, Bob Knight, will again aim the champion at Australia’s richest races including next year’s InterDominion in Melbourne.
Popular Alm broke a leg last December and stuseons inserted two stainiess\steel
screws into the damaged bone splint. His trainer, Bob Knight, and part-owner-driver, Vin Knight, have given their favourite horse plenty of time to recuperate and do not intend to rush into anything with him. “We’ll take things bit by bit with him,” said Vin.
"If everything goes right and he comes back like we think he will, then his ultimate aim will be the InterDominion.
“I’d love to have another crack at the Miracle Mile with him too.”
