Pigeon mystery solved

NZPA staff correspondent London The mystery of a “Bermuda triangle" for racing pigeons has been solved at a Welsh castle. Birds from throughout England have gone missing near Carreg Cennen Castle, near Llandeilo, over the last 60 years. It is on a main route for pigeon racing clubs, which send their birds by train to Wales. An amateur ornithologist and archaeologist, Fred Lyne, solved the mysteiy when he was out with his metal detector at the castle. He found a host of metal tags attached to pigeon wings, dating back to 1923. More than 40 pigeons were found — close to a nest occupied by a family of falcons. _L__
