Lack of cover irks officials
Canterbury judo officials are upset at the lack of television coverage of the sport at the Los Angeles Olympics. The publicity officer of the Canterbury Area Judo Association, Mrs Pauline O’Connor, said she obtained a television guide to the Olympics only last week and was angered to find no scheduled coverage of the sport either live or delayed.

Graeme Spinks, Bill Vincent, of Inglewood, and Shaun O’Leary, of Auckland. Vincent, particularly, is being held, as a medal prospect. He was placed third at the Irish championships recently when he competed in his build-up for the Olympics. Mrs O’Connor rang Television New Zealand and also sent a letter to complain about the apparent snub of the sport. A spokesman told her that there may be some delayed coverage of judo but that the contract was
finalised some time ago.
