Swart disappointed

ject, Jack Swart, arrived home yesterday disappointed by the events of recent days.but determined to prove a point to the selectors in his future racing. Swart, who failed to gain last-minute inclusion in the New Zealand team, said: “Sure, I’m disappointed, but not only in missing out. What really hurts is that we have since learned that the New Zealand Cycling Association had known about the provision to add an extra road rider for
weeks but kept it quiet. “It was not until we got to the States that we learned about that. I went over to ride the Coors Tour at my own expense, really, just to prove a point. I feel I did that, but it made no difference. “The Americans could not believe that I was not in the New Zealand team, especially after I had won that stage. And they were even more amazed to learn that New Zealand would go into the road race without a full four-man team.
