Discharge for corporal

NZPA-AP Tustin, California The Marine Corps will discharge a lance corporal whose officer fiance was dismissed from the corps for being engaged to her. Lance Corporal Kandi Clark, aged 22, will be honourably discharged for “conduct adversely affecting the good order and discipline of the unit,” said Lieutenant Colonel Robert Sarles of the Tustin Marine Corps Air Station. She will retain full veterans’ benefits, unlike her fiance, Captain John Moultak, aged 27, of the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. He was convicted at a court martial on July 13 of fraternising with an enlisted woman and was dismissed, the equivalent of a dishonourable discharge. Fraternisation between an officer and an enlisted person is forbidden, mainly to prevent favouritism or the appearance of favouritism. Lance Corporal Clark had tried to get out of the Marines earlier this year so she could marry Captain Moultak.
