Cycle stands

Sir,—l echo recent complaints about the lack of cycle stands. Apart from the fact that the design of cycle stands being used is liable to cause buckling of front wheels, the placing of stands at the end of the malls is ill-considered. Cyclists cannot secure their possessions on their bicycles and do not wish to leave them straddled with valuables while shopping. Instead, we have to park them against shop frontages which are invariably glass-fronted. The plethora of poles, seats, and rubbish containers within the malls is unsatisfactory for cycle stands because they do not allow support for the -front wheel of the bike. So please let us have more and better stands and better placed stands.—Yours, etc., TIM KERR. July 24, 1984.
