Wrestler progresses
NZPA Los Angeles The New Zealand wrestler, Graeme Hawkins, is progressing well after knee surgery. “He will go twice to the physiotherapist tomorrow and start upper body exercises while still resting his knee,” said the assistant director of medical services with the New Zealand team, Dave Gerrard. Hawkins, who wrestles in
the 57kg category, had a torn cartilage removed by surgery on his right knee on Saturday night. “There was no way he could compete the way it was,” said Gerrard. “There will be two weeks rehabilitation needed but I’m very confident he will be in the competition when it starts. Medically I’d be prepared to let him compete.”
